Challenge
CrossLend is a Berlin-based fintech platform digitising Europe's cross-border lending and securitisation market. As the company scaled its SaaS offering — connecting institutional investors with loan originators across jurisdictions — its internal tooling hadn't kept pace: the admin back-office lacked real-time deal pipeline visibility, compliance checks against external KYC/AML and credit rating APIs were manual and error-prone, and the internal API layer needed to support increasingly complex reporting and risk analytics views.
Approach
As Senior Backend Developer embedded in CrossLend's engineering team, I built the internal admin platform and REST API layer powering it. Designed deal pipeline dashboards and risk analytics views in Twig and jQuery, backed by RESTful endpoints in Symfony with Doctrine ORM for PostgreSQL and Doctrine ODM for MongoDB. Implemented event-driven validation flows using Symfony Messenger — admin actions like originator onboarding dispatched async events that triggered external KYC/AML and credit rating API calls, validated responses, and updated compliance status without blocking the UI. Built reporting endpoints with multi-dimensional filtering across the dual-database architecture, with Redis caching for heavy aggregation queries.
